Corporate Profile
Children's Scholarship Fund of Kansas City
Corporate Profile: CSF of KC is the Kansas City branch of the national
Children's Scholarship Fund based in New York, New York. This organization
focuses on providing 4-year scholarships to needy families who would like to
send their children to private schools. The scholarship recipients are chosen
on a lottery basis and are avaiable in denominations of either 25%, 50%, or 75%
of the actual tuition.
Public Web Site
The web site available to the public consists of general information for
perspective recipients as well as donors. This provides statistics that are
pulled directly from the database and updated on a regular basis providing
those interested with an accurate view of the program.

This web site also features a Flash presentation developed
by The Art Mill as an "online commercial" informing potential donors about the
heartbeart of the organization.

Private Web Site
There were two "private" sites built for CSF-KC. The first one (pictured below)
was for the administration team to gather statistics and reports about current
scholarship information (note: the image below has been purposefully "smudged"
to avoid revealing sensitive information). The second site allowed the
administrators at individual schools to log in and view the status of their
scholarship students, along with the status of their applications and
paperwork. This allowed them to know when payments would be arriving, how much
each payment would be, as well as what might be a delay in the payment due to
missing paperwork.

In every scenario listed here, publishing the data to the web allowed the staff
managing the database to focus on their responsibilities rather than repeatedly
having to step back and generate reports for administrators or school
officials. This automation made the database administators more prodcutive, as
well as giving more power to those in the field allowing them to be more
efficient and effective.
